Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida arrived in Hanoi on September 14, 2026, to begin a three-day state visit to Vietnam. The visit, which lasts until September 16, was extended by invitation from Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam and his spouse.

This historic occasion marks the first state visit to Vietnam by a Thai King and Queen since diplomatic relations were established in 1976. It also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. The visit follows the upgrade of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, the royal couple was welcomed by high-ranking Vietnamese officials. A formal welcome ceremony was held at the National Assembly, featuring a 21-gun salute from the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long and a review of the Vietnamese People's Army honor guard. Following the ceremonies, the leaders proceeded to official talks to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
