Thai Law Committee rejects House Speaker guidelines
The House Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights has voted unanimously, 8 to 0, to reject new operational guidelines issued by House Speaker Sopon Saram.
Rangsiman Rome, chairman of the committee and a People's Party MP, stated that the three-page circular lacks an official seal, a signature from the Speaker, and any legal basis or reference to authority. The committee expressed concerns regarding the authenticity of the document and noted that the guidelines do not constitute law or formal regulations, meaning they lack binding power.
The committee intends to investigate the matter further and plans to invite Speaker Sopon to provide a clarification, which is expected to take place on September 12.
