Thai lawmaker summons MP and husband over gambling bribery probe
Rangsiman Rome, Chairman of the House Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, has summoned Bhumjaithai Party MP Suchada Sangtanthap and her Australian-national husband, Taiyang Sang, to testify on October 7. The committee is investigating legal policies regarding online gambling bribery, anti-money laundering measures, and digital asset controls.
The summons follows allegations made by Rome regarding potential links to transnational crime and scammer networks. Online scrutiny has also focused on the asset and debt disclosures of MP Suchada, specifically regarding funds held by her husband that have raised questions about potential money laundering.
In response to these allegations, former Senator Ruangkrai Likhitwattana warned that Rome must provide concrete evidence to avoid legal repercussions. Ruangkrai noted that current asset disclosures from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) do not yet show irregularities and suggested that making unsubstantiated claims against third parties could lead to criminal or ethical charges against the lawmaker.
