Thai military officer hospitalized after flight disturbance
Thailand's Ministry of Defence has confirmed that a man who caused a major disturbance on a flight from Malaysia to Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport is a member of the military.
According to Defence Ministry spokesperson Surasan Kongsiri, the individual, a lieutenant serving under the Office of Defence Policy and Planning, was experiencing a sudden recurrence of a mental health condition triggered by personal issues. During the flight, the man reportedly became violent, shouted for the aircraft to land, and used vulgar language. Flight crew and passengers eventually restrained him.
The Ministry has transferred the individual to Phramongkutklao Hospital for continued medical treatment and observation.
