Thai model Sukanya Thawichokkamthon found dead on River Kwai

Thai police are investigating the death of 30‑year‑old model and mother Sukanya Thawichokkamthon. Her body was discovered on July 22 by a fisherman, lodged on a raft floating in the River Kwai after she disappeared following a night out. She had taken a ride‑hailing car to the Somdet Phra Sangharaja Yannasangwon Bridge near Kanchanaburi; the driver said she appeared confused and was searching for someone.

No visible signs of assault were observed at the scene, though a small packet of white powder was found in her clothing. DNA testing, assisted by her sister, confirmed her identity. Authorities are awaiting a full post‑mortem report and are reviewing CCTV footage while searching for her missing bag and mobile phone. Sukanya, who had more than 24,000 social‑media followers, was described by family as a devoted mother, and they dispute any suggestion of suicide.
