Thai Navy completes frigate procurement review, projects over 7 bn baht investment
The Royal Thai Navy announced that it has finished evaluating proposals for a high‑capability frigate acquisition. The assessment followed the terms of reference (TOR) strictly, using evidence‑based criteria such as technical specifications, pricing and offset commitments. The navy is now submitting its recommendation for formal approval under Thai law and regulations.
The projected investment exceeds 7.25 billion baht, with the navy expecting a substantial economic impact for Thailand, including industrial offsets and job creation. Spokesperson Lieutenant‑Commander Parach Rattanachaiyaphan said the process will remain transparent and fair, and details will be disclosed once the approval is complete.
