Thai Nguyen and Hung Yen lead Vietnamese First Division standings

In Round 4 of the 2026-2027 First Division, newcomers Thai Nguyen and Hung Yen have secured the top two positions in the league standings.

Thai Nguyen achieved a significant away victory against title contenders Becamex TP. HCM with a 3-2 scoreline. Despite Adriano Schmidt giving the home side an early lead and Daniel Anjos converting a penalty to make it 2-1, Thai Nguyen staged a late comeback. Victor Mansaray scored twice in the final minutes, including an equalizer in the 72nd minute and a goal in the 75th minute, before Dinh Thinh secured the win in the 85th minute. This victory maintains Thai Nguyen’s perfect record of four wins from four matches.

Hung Yen also secured a victory against Long An, maintaining their second-place position. Despite playing with ten men after defender Nguyen Manh Hung received a red card in the 61st minute, Hung Yen won 3-1. Goals from Nguyen Ngoc Toan and Joseph Khalio—who scored twice—ensured the win after Long An had briefly equalized through a free kick by Ha Vu Em.
