Thai Nguyen police arrest mother and son for assault

Police in Thai Nguyen province have arrested and detained Nguyen Thi Thuan (born 1978) and her son, Nguyen Van Son (born 2002), for intentional injury.

The incident occurred on September 3, 2026, following a dispute with a neighbor, Ms. N. T. N, who suffers from mental illness. According to investigators, the neighbor had approached the Thuan residence, shouting and leaving incense and white cloths in the yard.

Upon learning of the incident, Thuan and Son traveled to the neighbor's home armed with weapons, including a thorny branch and a bamboo pole. They physically assaulted Ms. N, resulting in bodily injuries assessed at an 11% damage rate. The victim was reportedly found unconscious by relatives following the attack. The case has been prosecuted under Clause 2, Article 134 of the Penal Code.
