Thai Nguyen police dismantle 1,000 billion VND gambling ring

Police in Thai Nguyen province have dismantled a criminal group involved in supporting online gambling operations, facilitating the transfer of over 1,000 billion VND. Authorities have initiated a case and prosecuted 10 defendants for the crimes of “organizing gambling” and “gambling.”

Investigations revealed that between June and September, two primary suspects, Nguyen Van Tan and Nguyen Dinh Truong, connected with a gambling ring to manage transactions. The group utilized 40 bank accounts opened by several other individuals to receive and pay out gambling funds.

To bypass security, the group used specialized methods including remote phone control, bypassing OTP security, and using automated applications on smartphones to manage transactions. The ring leaders reportedly received monthly payments of 25 to 30 million VND, while other participants earned between 15 and 20 million VND per month.
