Thai Nguyen police investigate online sports gambling ring

Police in Thai Nguyen province have launched an investigation into a group of five individuals involved in illegal online gambling. The group was discovered using computers to place bets on football and basketball via online betting websites.

The investigation began following community reports regarding suspicious activity at a residence in Phan Dinh Phung Ward. During a raid on the third floor of the house, authorities found four computers connected to the internet and six people present.

Five of the individuals admitted to participating in sports betting. Preliminary findings indicate that the subjects frequently placed bets ranging from several million to tens of millions of Vietnamese dong per match, with some football bets reaching 30 million dong.
