Thai officials raid 577 Club nightclub in Bangkok

Thai interior ministry officials conducted a raid on the 577 Club, a large entertainment venue in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district, during the early hours of August 29, 2026. The operation, led by Deputy Interior Ministers Phonphir Suwannachawee and Worasit Liangprasit alongside the Department of Provincial Administration’s special operations unit, targeted the establishment for allegedly operating without a license, suspected Chinese nominee ownership, and potential drug activity.

Authorities reported that the venue lacked a service-establishment permit and frequently remained open past legal hours, accepting payments through foreign platforms and personal bank accounts. During the raid, officers encountered hundreds of Thai and foreign patrons. Investigations revealed that some patrons tested positive for narcotics, and drugs were seized on-site.

Additionally, officials identified foreign workers operating outside their permitted job scopes. Investigators are also examining evidence of illegal foreign control of the business, noting that the venue utilized Vietnamese staff who spoke Chinese and maintained hiring practices that favored Chinese speakers.
