Thai police arrest Swedish murder suspect in Bangkok

Thai police arrested two Swedish nationals at a luxury condominium in the Phra Ram 9 district of Bangkok on August 23. The primary suspect, identified as Kevin, is wanted in Sweden for suspected murder, attempted murder, arson, and extortion.

Investigators from the Immigration Bureau tracked the suspect after receiving information from the Nordic Police Affairs Division. Kevin had entered Thailand via Suvarnabhumi International Airport on May 17 and had been staying in the country past his permitted visa expiration. He reportedly moved frequently, often staying on Koh Samui, to evade detection.

A second Swedish national, identified as Alex, was also detained at the scene. Authorities allege Alex assisted Kevin by providing food, necessities, and accommodation. Alex was found to have overstayed his visa by 195 days. Police seized three mobile phones and three credit cards during the operation, which will be sent to Swedish authorities to aid further investigations. Both men face legal proceedings in Thailand regarding their immigration status before being deported to Sweden.
