Thai Police Committee Chair defends Justice Minister
Wacharapong Kuvijitsuwann, Chairman of the House Police Committee and Bhumjaithai Party MP, has defended Justice Minister Rutthapol Naowarat against accusations from the National Human Rights Commission. The Commission had opposed the Minister's comments regarding the criminal history of a family member of Phattharaphong Supaksorn, also known as ‘Lawyer Aun Buriram,’ who has been investigating state actions in the Khao Kradong land case.
Wacharapong stated that the Minister’s remarks were not intended to undermine anyone’s legitimacy but were meant to advise the public to verify the credibility and background of information providers. He criticized Lawyer Aun’s recent activities, suggesting they may be driven by a desire for social media attention or political motives rather than a pursuit of justice. Wacharapong noted that the lawyer’s frequent complaints and public conduct have caused burdens for state agencies and led to various defamation lawsuits.
