Thai Police Rescue Three Kidnapped Chinese Nationals

Highway police in Tak province, Thailand, intercepted a speeding pickup truck and rescued three Chinese nationals who were being trafficked toward the Myanmar border. The victims, aged 28, 29, and 32, were found handcuffed, bound with ropes, and had their mouths taped shut.

The incident occurred near Lan Sang village after the driver attempted to evade a security checkpoint at Mae Tho. Officers arrested four Thai suspects, aged 18 to 33, inside the vehicle. Authorities seized various items used to restrain the victims, including handcuffs, adhesive tape, nylon cords, and two electric stun guns.

Preliminary investigations suggest the victims were lured to Thailand via commercial flights under the pretense of job opportunities. They were reportedly being transported toward criminal scam compounds located across the Moei River in Myanmar. One arrested suspect, a 33-year-old driver, claimed he was hired to transport the individuals for a fee of 3,000 Thai baht per person.
