Thai police summon amulet expert in temple embezzlement probe
Thai police have issued a summons to Pong Suphan, a prominent amulet expert, to testify regarding his role as a committee member of the Wan Chot Foundation. The summons is scheduled for September 22.
The investigation is part of a larger case involving the embezzlement of temple funds from Wat Phutthaisawan in Ayutthaya province. The case centers on Atichot Thanprasert, the former abbot of the temple, and Ms. Punyavee Rungrueang. Investigators are examining the foundation, which was established by the former abbot, to determine its connection to the misappropriated funds.
The Crime Suppression Division has shared financial trail data with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) for further scrutiny. While five of the six foundation committee members have already provided statements, authorities are continuing to analyze financial records to identify any further links to the embezzlement.
