Thai PM Anutin Charnvirakul to restructure Ministry of Interior in August
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that the Ministry of Interior will undergo a major restructuring in August. He stressed that the change is not a mere “reset” but will deliver concrete results and restore public confidence after a local civil‑service exam cheating scandal that eroded trust.
The plan includes moving senior officials such as deputy permanent secretaries, department heads, auditors, provincial governors and other high‑ranking cadres. Criminal, civil and disciplinary proceedings will be pursued against those implicated in the exam fraud.
In parallel, the defence minister of Malaysia visited Thailand for a bilateral security meeting on the southern border, and Anutin noted that peace talks with the insurgent BRN group have been postponed indefinitely. He also reiterated that the government’s colours are red, white and blue, dismissing speculation about any red‑green coalition.
