Thai Red Cross launches stem cell donation campaign

The National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society has launched the “25 Years Forward with Stem Cell Hope” project to encourage stem cell donation for patients with blood diseases. To promote the initiative, members of the musical group DaruNi—Gigi Supisara, Mimi Pimrada, and Remy Irin—from the Rabbit Moon label under T&B Media Global (Thailand) participated in a press conference and promotional video.

Finding a compatible stem cell donor is difficult; while siblings have a 1 in 4 chance of a match, the chance of finding a non-related donor with matching HLA tissue is only 1 in 10,000. The National Blood Centre, which has operated the National Hematopoietic Stem Cell Bank since 2002, is inviting healthy volunteers aged 18 to 50 years, weighing at least 45 kilograms, to register as donors.

Registration and blood donation activities are being promoted throughout September 2026 at the National Blood Centre, the Wiset Niyom station, 25 blood donation units in Bangkok, and eight national blood service centers. Donors will receive a commemorative “25 Years Forward with Stem Cell Hope” T-shirt as a token of appreciation.
