Thai Senator criticizes release of Senate election investigation data

Thai Senator Pisit Apiwattana-pong has criticized Parit Wacharasindhu of the People's Party and Yingcheep Atchanont of iLaw for releasing investigation reports regarding Senate election irregularities. Pisit questioned the accuracy and sources of the leaked information, suggesting that the disclosure might be politically motivated to influence public opinion before official investigations are complete.

Pisit raised concerns that the publication of certain documents could violate the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the Computer Crimes Act, noting that the leaked files contain personal information. He characterized the use of online media to present such data as a form of “vigilante justice” or “witch hunting” that pressures independent agencies and judges individuals before legal processes are finalized.

Separately, Senator Chatchawat Saengphet denied rumors that a group of senators met to celebrate escaping legal scrutiny related to the election investigation, stating the gathering was merely a meal with committee members to discuss facts.
