Thai state agencies to raise 60-70 billion baht via infrastructure funds

Three Thai state agencies are preparing to raise between 60 billion and 70 billion baht through infrastructure funds (IFF), according to Thibadee Wattanakul, Director of the State Enterprise Policy Office. The fundraising efforts aim to reduce interest burdens and support major development projects, with clarity expected to emerge starting in mid-2027.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) plans to raise 18 billion baht to fund floating solar projects and power grid developments to support the national energy transition. This process is expected to be finalized by June 2027.

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) intends to raise approximately 20 billion baht for the first phase of the Phuket Expressway (Kathu-Patong), which includes elevated roads and mountain tunnels to alleviate traffic and improve disaster evacuation. An additional 6 billion baht is planned for a southern route, with clarity expected by October 2027.

The Department of Highways aims to raise 30 billion baht for the M8 motorway project (Nakhon Pathom-Pak Tho), a 61-kilometer stretch designed to connect with the southern network. The project is expected to reach clarity by late 2026 or mid-2028.
