Thai windsurfing and surfing teams head to 2026 Asian Games

Thai windsurfing and surfing athletes have departed for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The competition serves as a critical qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with gold medalists in both male and female shortboard categories earning direct spots.

Windsurfing athletes, including William McMillan, Siriporn Kaewduangngam, Wachirawit Tanup, and Chanatkan Charoensuk, have faced weather challenges. Due to a typhoon affecting the training venue, organizers suspended sea training on September 20-21, forcing the team to conduct land-based fitness training instead.

The surfing team, consisting of Natthakorn Sae-iao, Tinn Johnson, Isabel Fe Hick, and Annissa Thita Flynn, will compete at Pacific Long Beach in Tahara, Aichi Prefecture. Their competition schedule is set for September 25-28, with September 29 reserved as a backup day in case of unfavorable wave conditions.
