Thailand and China strengthen ties through technology and investment

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized the evolving partnership between Thailand and China during a ceremony celebrating the 60th anniversary of nine Chinese community organizations at the Teochew Association of Thailand in Bangkok.

Describing the relationship as moving from a “family-like bond” to becoming “partners who build the future together,” the Prime Minister highlighted recent diplomatic successes. Following his visit to China in July, where he met with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, 15 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) were signed. Additionally, a Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) office was established in Chengdu to facilitate regional cooperation.

Future cooperation will focus on high-tech and next-generation industries, including semiconductors, advanced electronics, artificial intelligence, robotics, new energy vehicles, and clean energy. The Prime Minister aims to promote “two-way investment,” encouraging Chinese companies to invest in Thailand while helping Thai businesses expand into the Chinese market. He also called on the younger generation to view the relationship as a gateway to global business and technological innovation.
