Thailand authorities seize large shipment of illegal rosewood

Thai authorities have seized a large shipment of 109 rosewood logs during an operation targeting illegal logging and transnational timber trafficking. The crackdown follows a raid on a processing warehouse in Chiang Rai.

Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, stated that the ministry is implementing proactive policies to combat resource crimes and protect the nation's ecosystem. He ordered officials to investigate the networks and financiers behind these illegal activities to ensure maximum legal penalties are applied.

The operation involved coordinated efforts between the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, the Royal Forest Department, and specialized crime suppression units to dismantle the illegal timber trade networks.
