Thailand BOI reports 23.5 billion baht in advanced materials investments
Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) reports significant growth in the advanced materials sector, with 35 investment promotion projects valued at over 23.5 billion baht approved between 2023 and the first half of 2026.
These materials, which include nanomaterials, specialized fibers, and advanced fabrics, serve as critical components for high-tech industries such as electronics, electric vehicles (EV), batteries, and clean energy. The investment aims to strengthen domestic supply chains, reduce import dependency, and integrate Thai manufacturers into high-value global networks.
Key areas of investment include Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors (MLCC), which are essential for devices ranging from smartphones to AI servers. Major global players, such as Murata Electronics and Kyocera AVX Components, already utilize Thailand as a production base for these critical components.
