Thailand CIB investigates election photo violations and leaked Senate fraud files
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Thailand is accelerating investigations into two major cases involving election integrity and the leak of confidential government documents.
The first case involves the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) filing complaints against six individuals for violating laws by taking unauthorized photographs at a polling station in the Khan Na Yao district of Bangkok during a recent election. A specialized investigative team led by Deputy Commissioner Suwat Chaengyodsuk has been appointed to gather evidence.
The second case concerns the leak of confidential investigative files related to alleged Senate election fraud. The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the ECT reported that secret documents, including opinions and investigative files from subcommittees, were leaked to external parties, including the civil society organization iLaw and various political groups. The Crime Suppression Division is currently investigating the source of the leak to identify those responsible for compromising the judicial process.
