Thailand clarifies voting rules for Social Security Board election

The Thai government has clarified voting regulations for the upcoming Social Security Board election scheduled for September 27, 2026. Deputy Government Spokesperson Phattaradarm Thongsaluaykorn stated that insured persons are permitted to use personal notes to remember candidate numbers.

According to a resolution from the Social Security Election Committee on September 9, 2026, voters may write candidate numbers on small pieces of paper or even on their palms to assist their memory. However, these notes must remain private and must not be shown to others within the polling station.

Strict prohibitions remain regarding campaign materials. Under regulation 44, voters are strictly forbidden from bringing any campaign documents, brochures, or promotional materials into the polling station. Voters who do not use personal notes can verify candidate numbers via announcement boards located in front of the polling stations. The election will take place nationwide from 08:00 to 16:00.
