Thailand extends Thai Chuay Thai Plus program to support citizens
The Thai Cabinet has approved the extension of the ‘Thai Chuay Thai Plus’ (60/40) project for an additional two months, covering October and November 2026. The initiative aims to mitigate the impact of the ongoing energy crisis and support vulnerable groups and small-scale vendors to maintain economic stability.
Under the new phase, eligible citizens can receive up to 1,000 baht to be used over two months via the ‘Pao Tang’ application. Registration and rights confirmation must be completed between October 1 and October 15. Additionally, the government will provide a 1,000 baht top-up for State Welfare Card holders in October.
In local markets such as Trang, vendors have expressed concerns that the 1,000 baht allocation spread over two months is insufficient to stimulate purchasing power. Merchants report that previous monthly disbursements were more effective at driving foot traffic, noting that current economic conditions remain difficult as consumer spending has slowed significantly following the depletion of previous funds.
