Thailand FA requests AFC review of refereeing in U20 match against UAE
The Football Association of Thailand has submitted a formal request to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to review the officiating during the AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers match between Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Although Thailand U20 secured a 1-0 victory, the association highlighted two specific instances of dangerous play that went unpunished. The first involved a UAE player making a high-risk tackle with an extended foot against a Thai player. The second occurred during stoppage time (90+6 minutes), when a UAE goalkeeper made high contact with a Thai player's head while contesting a ball, resulting in an injury without a foul being called.
The association stated that the review is intended to ensure player safety, maintain international officiating standards, and promote fairness and transparency in the competition.
