Thailand opens flood relief registration in 65 provinces and Bangkok

Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has opened flood relief registration for residents in 65 provinces and all 50 districts of Bangkok. The initiative follows severe flooding occurring between May 15 and September 30, 2026. As of October 3, over 700,000 applications had been submitted, with Bangkok recording the highest volume at 343,545.

Financial compensation is tiered based on the severity of impact. Households with property damage or those flooded for more than seven days are eligible for 9,000 baht. Those whose homes were surrounded by water, preventing normal life for over seven days, can receive 5,000 baht. Additionally, families of victims killed in floods or mudslides are eligible for a 2 million baht funeral payment.

Citizens can apply through the Tang Rat mobile application or at local authority offices. Meanwhile, the government is also promoting a new National Disaster Insurance policy, which offers up to 100,000 baht for residential damage and 2 million baht for loss of life. On the infrastructure side, the Royal Thai Irrigation Department is actively managing water levels in the Chao Phraya basin to mitigate further impact on residents.
