Thailand government announces housing support for disabled and water remediation plans

The Thai government has announced two major initiatives to address social welfare and environmental concerns. Through the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the government is providing up to 40,000 baht per household to assist persons with disabilities in modifying their homes. This support aims to improve safety and accessibility by funding improvements such as bathroom modifications, ramp installations, handrail attachments, and floor adjustments. Eligibility is subject to strict criteria, including holding a disability identification card and undergoing a formal home survey to ensure the modifications meet specific needs.

Simultaneously, the government is coordinating a multi-agency response to address wastewater and fish mortality in Khlong Raphiphat 2 in Pathum Thani province. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has directed the Royal Irrigation Department, the Land Development Department, and the Department of Fisheries to collaborate on water quality restoration. Efforts include pumping 500,000 cubic meters of clean water daily to dilute pollutants, distributing over 120,000 liters of wastewater treatment microbes, and using specialized microorganisms to reduce organic accumulation. Officials expect to complete the drainage of stagnant water in target areas by mid-November, provided there is no significant additional rainfall.
