Thailand government provides flood relief to 75,000 households

The Thai government has implemented multi-dimensional relief measures for flood victims, including direct financial aid, disaster insurance, and debt moratoriums for farmers and entrepreneurs. As of October 11, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, in collaboration with Government Savings Bank, has transferred over 650 million baht to more than 75,000 households across 31 provinces.

For disasters occurring before October 1, eligible households receive 9,000 baht for living expenses, alongside additional aid for property damage. For incidents occurring from October 1 onwards, the government has activated a national disaster insurance system covering approximately 30 million households. This system provides up to 100,000 baht per household for flood damage and up to 2 million baht per person in the event of death.

Additional support from the Ministry of Finance includes emergency loans, funds for home and tool repairs, and liquidity support to help businesses and individuals recover. Citizens can track their relief status in real-time via the ‘Tang Rat’ application or the official disaster relief website.
