Thailand implements flood management in industrial zones and Chao Phraya basin

Thai authorities are implementing proactive measures to manage flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains and low-pressure systems. In Bangkok, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand is using large pumps to drain water from the Lat Krabang and Bang Chan industrial estates, where water levels in common areas have reached between 20 and 50 centimeters. Officials stated that while water has entered common areas, no significant economic damage to factories has been reported, and the situation is being managed to prevent a repeat of the 2011 floods.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has adjusted water management plans for the Chao Phraya River basin. To mitigate impacts on low-lying areas and downstream communities, authorities are working to slow water flow in upper reaches and distribute water across both sides of the river. Efforts include clearing water obstructions, preparing irrigation systems, and utilizing the Khlong Lat Pho sluice gate to coordinate drainage with tidal patterns to protect both agricultural and economic zones.
