Thailand invites Canva to establish regional office and AI-Design Research Center

During a visit to Australia, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with executives from the Australian design technology company Canva to discuss driving Thailand’s creative economy. The Thai government has invited Canva to establish a regional office and an AI-Design Research Center within the country to foster local talent and technological innovation.

Canva currently maintains a significant presence in Thailand, which ranks as the company’s sixth-largest market globally. The platform has over 7 million monthly users in Thailand and a cumulative total of 30 million accounts. To leverage this base, Canva aims to increase the number of Thai creators on its platform from 190 to 1,000 by 2028.

The collaboration involves several Thai agencies, including the Department of Business Development (DBD) and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa). The initiative seeks to assist 40,000 Thai SMEs in enhancing their branding, packaging, and digital marketing to compete internationally. Additionally, the partnership includes educational goals to expand Canva Education access, aiming to grow the user base among Thai students and teachers from 3.3 million to 6.6 million by 2025.
