Thailand judicial confidence declines due to political interference

A Suan Dusit Poll survey of 1,123 participants reveals a crisis of confidence in the Thai judicial system. The findings indicate that 66.87% of respondents believe political interference is the primary cause for declining trust in the legal process.

Approximately 46.39% of those surveyed expressed a lack of confidence in the fairness and neutrality of the judiciary, particularly following recent political legal cases. Furthermore, 73.55% of respondents perceive that different social groups do not receive justice equally, highlighting a significant gap between the principle of equality and public experience.

To restore public trust, 66.52% of participants suggested that authorities should prioritize making legal rights and assistance more easily accessible to all citizens. Experts from Suan Dusit University noted that the judiciary must demonstrate independence and apply uniform standards to everyone to address these growing societal concerns.
