Thailand launches film-inspired tourism campaign
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new initiative titled ‘Amazing Locations: From Scene to Scenic’ to promote film-inspired tourism. The project aims to transform cinematic filming sites into high-value travel destinations, encouraging tourists to visit real-world locations seen in movies and television series.
This campaign complements the existing ‘Healing Is the New Luxury’ strategy, which focuses on emotional value and mental well-being through Thai culture, nature, and traditional wellness. By leveraging the film industry—which generates between 6,000 and 7,000 million baht annually for Thailand—the TAT seeks to drive sustainable income to local communities.
The project features 10 specific travel routes linked to major productions. Notable connections include Khao Sam Roi Yot with ‘Alien: Earth’, Krabi with ‘James Bond’ and ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’, Koh Samui with ‘The White Lotus’, and various sites in the northeast and eastern regions such as Nan, Bueng Kan, and Chanthaburi.
