Thailand launches green housing pilot in Nakhon Sawan

The Thai government is launching a green housing initiative to reduce long-term living costs for citizens. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has partnered with several organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, and the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), to drive the “Project to Promote Energy-Efficient and Environmentally Friendly Housing in Thailand.”

The pilot phase of the project will involve 341 energy-efficient housing units in Nakhon Sawan. The initiative aims to utilize clean energy technology and innovation to improve housing efficiency and lower energy costs, specifically targeting low- and middle-income groups.

According to government spokespersons, the project is designed to ensure that high-quality, sustainable housing is accessible to all socioeconomic groups, not just those with high purchasing power. By reducing monthly energy expenses, the government intends to provide sustainable relief for household economies while simultaneously addressing environmental concerns.
