Thailand launches Thai Street Gold Star app for food vendors
Thai authorities have launched the ‘Thai Street Gold Star’ app to formalize and promote the country’s street food sector. Developed through a collaboration between the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion and Suan Dusit University, the application was released in late July.
The initiative is being rolled out in Bangkok, Pattaya (Chonburi province), and Chiang Mai. The app is designed to increase the visibility of street food vendors and help elevate the sector to meet international standards. Users can utilize the platform to search for approved vendors, view menus, and receive navigation assistance to specific stalls.
To receive certification through the program, vendors must adhere to strict food safety and hygiene requirements, maintain the authentic identity of their dishes, and meet specific customer service standards. Experts suggest the app has significant potential to boost the national culinary industry by creating new marketing opportunities and increasing the digital presence of local vendors.
