Thailand maintains energy security despite Middle East tensions
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has assured the public that Thailand faces no risk of oil shortages despite geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East. He stated that while global volatility affects oil prices, the country's domestic supply remains highly stable.
According to the Prime Minister, domestic oil stocks are currently so high that the government has had to approve exports to clear excess inventory. He attributed this surplus to efficient management and reduced domestic consumption by citizens.
To mitigate long-term risks, the government is promoting an energy transition. This includes incentives for citizens to shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles and the adoption of clean energy sources like solar rooftops.
