Thailand ministries propose energy transition skill programs
Five ministries overseen by the Pheu Thai Party are preparing to propose skill development projects aimed at supporting Thailand's energy transition. The initiative focuses on upskilling and reskilling the workforce to handle the installation and maintenance of new energy technologies, such as solar cells.
Yotsachanon Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, stated that the plan is being coordinated with the Ministry of Finance. The project will involve collaboration with the Department of Skill Development under the Ministry of Labour, as well as various universities and relevant agencies.
The funding for these initiatives is expected to come from a 200 billion baht emergency loan decree dedicated to energy transition. Officials aim to present these projects as a unified package to the Ministry of Finance rather than as separate departmental requests. A meeting to discuss the implementation plan is scheduled for next week.
