Thailand Ministry of Commerce boosts 64 SMEs for FTA markets

Supajee Suthumpan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, presided over a ceremony to award certificates to 64 entrepreneurs participating in the ‘Boost up SMEs to FTA Market’ project. The initiative is a collaboration between the Department of Foreign Trade and the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP).

The project aims to enhance the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encourage them to utilize Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to expand into international markets. Currently, SMEs account for approximately 90% of registered legal entities in Thailand and generate about 34–35% of national income. While SMEs make up 80% of Thai exporters, they contribute only 14% of total export revenue, highlighting a significant opportunity for growth through increased competitiveness and easier access to global trade opportunities.
