Thailand Ministry of Education proposes national school safety measures

The Thai Ministry of Education is proposing six national school safety measures to the Cabinet to elevate student protection to a national agenda. These measures aim to prevent violence within educational institutions through the integrated cooperation of five key ministries.

Following a shooting incident at Debsirin Nonthaburi School, Deputy Prime Minister Yotschanan Wongsawat noted that the initiative will involve the Department of Mental Health and the Royal College of Psychiatrists of Thailand to address psychological pressures on students. The plan seeks to provide a holistic approach to student well-being and safety.

In addition to school safety, the Cabinet meeting includes various administrative matters, such as the appointment of the Netherlands Ambassador to Thailand, the establishment of a Kazakhstani honorary consulate in Samut Sakhon, and budget approvals for hospital construction projects in Yala and Sukhothai provinces.
