Thailand Ministry of Interior investigates state land sale
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Autthasit Samphantharat, has launched an investigation into allegations that a government official illegally sold state-owned land to Athip Ananwan, the husband of celebrity Panadda Wongphudee.
The investigation focuses on a former director-level official within the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior. An investigative committee has been established by Deputy Permanent Secretary Arocha Nantamontee, with findings expected within seven days.
Authorities are also looking into the involvement of a local district chief in Nakhon Nayok province, who was summoned for questioning after a scheduled press conference was abruptly canceled. Mr. Autthasit emphasized that state land under military supervision cannot be legally sold and stated that any officials found guilty of misconduct or legal violations will face strict disciplinary and legal action.
