Thailand Ministry of Interior outlines disaster response plans

During a parliamentary session, Deputy Interior Minister Jeseth Thaiseth addressed concerns regarding the government's preparedness for natural disasters, specifically following recent flooding in Nan and Songkhla provinces.

Thaiseth stated that the Ministry of Interior has implemented comprehensive response plans across the country, covering prevention, incident response, and recovery. He emphasized that the state is prepared to provide aid and that government resources often reach affected areas ahead of volunteers.

Regarding flood monitoring, the Deputy Minister noted that the National Disaster Center utilizes radar and monitoring tools to track rainfall and cloud formations. He highlighted the requirement for provinces to maintain 24-hour surveillance centers. To improve future responses, he acknowledged the need to better integrate local data with central monitoring to account for specific regional variations in weather severity.
