Anutin Charnvirakul signs deportation order for Israeli national
Anutin Charnvirakul, the Minister of Interior, has signed an order to deport Yaacov Ohayon, an Israeli national, from Thailand. The decision follows a court ruling in Koh Samui regarding Ohayon's involvement in sending threatening messages to local residents.
Anutin stated that the deportation is being carried out under new Prime Minister's Office regulations regarding the deportation of foreign nationals. These regulations allow for the swift removal of individuals whose behavior is deemed undesirable, inappropriate, or a threat to the security and well-being of Thai citizens. The Minister emphasized that while Thailand welcomes tourists, foreign nationals must respect Thai laws, customs, and traditions.
Additionally, Anutin noted that a French national has also been deported recently, marking the second such case under these tightened enforcement measures. Regarding a separate dispute involving a Jewish cemetery project in Chachoengsao, the Ministry of Interior has been notified and will consider not renewing land use permits to prioritize the sentiments of the local Thai population.
