Thailand PM orders strict law enforcement after southern border unrest

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul held an intensive one-hour meeting with security officials to address unrest in Thailand's three southern border provinces. The meeting followed a series of coordinated disturbances occurring at 51 locations during the night of August 22.

Key attendees included the Minister of Defence, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, the Army Chief of Staff, and the Secretary-General of the Internal Security Operations Command. During the session, the Commander of the Fourth Army Region provided a direct report on the situation via telephone.

The Prime Minister instructed officials to ensure the welfare of injured citizens and ordered the strict enforcement of the law to manage the unrest. Following the security briefing, the Prime Minister traveled to Nan province to monitor flood relief efforts.
