Thailand police arrest four for kidnapping Chinese tourist

Thai police have arrested four men following the kidnapping of a 29-year-old Chinese woman in Bangkok. The victim, who was traveling to Singapore for graduate studies, was lured by an acquaintance and a purported tour guide into a vehicle.

Once inside the car, the victim was restrained with plastic ties, assaulted, and had her phone taken. The suspects attempted to transport her toward Mae Sot, a region near the Myanmar border, which investigators believe is linked to a human trafficking ring.

During the transit, the victim managed to escape the moving vehicle by jumping out near a police checkpoint in Kamphaeng Phet province. She sought help at a nearby business, leading to a pursuit. Two suspects, Somkiat Thakaew and Kittiporn Winyah, were apprehended, while two others, Suchart and Kittisak, were later located hiding at a temple. The driver reportedly stated he was paid 10,000 baht to transport the victim.
