Thailand police arrest two suspects in kidnapping of Chinese tourist

Thai authorities have arrested two men following the attempted kidnapping of a 24-year-old Chinese woman who traveled to Thailand to meet an online acquaintance. The victim arrived at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport on September 28 and was met by a man claiming to be an intermediary. Shortly after entering the vehicle, her phone and personal belongings were confiscated, and the driver began heading toward the Thai-Myanmar border.

While traveling through Li District in Lamphun Province, the woman managed to jump from the moving vehicle. Although she sustained injuries, she was rescued by local residents and taken to a hospital.

Working with local police, the Tourist Police Department identified and apprehended two Thai suspects in Tak and Chiang Mai provinces. One suspect, who identified as a farmer, admitted to providing illegal cross-border transportation services for criminal syndicates during his off-season for a fee. Investigations are ongoing to identify the organizers behind the scheme.
