Thailand political confidence index declines in October
The Suan Dusit Poll, conducted by Suan Dusit University, reports a decline in Thailand’s overall political confidence index for October 2026. The index fell to 3.52 out of 10, down from 3.56 in September.
Among the 25 indicators measured, the performance of the opposition received the highest score at 4.30, while efforts to address drugs and influential figures received the lowest score at 2.88. Other low-scoring areas included economic issues, cost of living, and corruption transparency.
Regarding prominent political figures, the poll found that 33.18% of respondents felt no government politician stood out. Anutin Charnvirakul was the most notable government figure at 20.12%. In the opposition, Rakchanok Srainok led with 28.93%, followed by Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut at 21.64%.
Dr. Pornpan Buathong, Chair of Suan Dusit Poll, noted that political pressure from upcoming parliamentary scrutiny and cabinet reshuffle rumors, combined with flood damage and economic stagnation, contributed to the decline. Analysts suggested that public trust is waning as citizens feel political entities prioritize maintaining power over resolving concrete issues like inequality and the cost of living.
