Thailand proposes tax and budget reforms to save 100 billion baht
Juti Krairuek, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Fiscal Policy, Financial Institutions, and Financial Markets, has proposed a series of reforms aimed at saving the Thai government between 70,000 and 100,000 million baht annually.
Supported by Anutin Charnvirakul, the initiative includes extending the ‘Thai Chuay Thai Plus’ program for two months to stimulate consumption. Key policy goals involve reforming the tax collection system, reducing budget redundancies, and evaluating public organizations to decrease unnecessary spending and staffing.
The plan also emphasizes strengthening anti-corruption and anti-money laundering measures, specifically targeting illegal businesses, tax evasion, and nominee companies. Additionally, the committee aims to amend four major laws related to procurement, fiscal discipline, budgeting, and state administration to improve efficiency and address modern challenges.
