Thailand reaffirms commitment to OECD membership

Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul met with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in Bangkok to reaffirm Thailand's commitment to joining the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

During the meeting, Charnvirakul noted that the OECD expressed confidence in Thailand's preparations, stating that the country is on the right track. The Prime Minister emphasized that OECD membership serves as a vital opportunity to drive reforms that will strengthen the economy, increase productivity, and improve the quality of life for citizens. He highlighted that successful accession would transition Thailand from a developing nation to a developed one, elevating national standards in governance, trade, and financial systems.

Charnvirakul indicated that the accession process is proceeding according to the established timeline and that the government is working closely with the organization to ensure all necessary documentation and data are provided. Further discussions are planned for late November.
