Thailand SEC approves WORPT for cryptocurrency-to-baht tourist payments

Waan Exchange Co., Ltd. (Waanx) has received approval from Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to participate in the Tourist DigiPay Regulatory Sandbox. This initiative allows international tourists to convert supported cryptocurrencies, such as USDT and USDC, into Thai Baht (THB) to pay for goods and services using the Thai QR PromptPay system.

Developed through a collaboration between Waanx and Wipay Co., Ltd., the WORPT application integrates digital asset conversion with Thailand’s existing payment infrastructure. The project involves several major organizations, including Tether, The Mall Group, and Visa. Additionally, WORPT is preparing to launch Visa Prepaid Card services to offer travelers further flexibility during their stay in Thailand.
